iDetect
Mobile app technology for fire awareness, prevention and protection in SME’s of the textile manufacturing industry
Description
iDetect Textile factories/buildings are configured into spaces of widely varying specifications. This situation creates a diverse textile building environment with multiple variables that make fire hazards difficult to predict and monitor accurately. Therefore, developing and implementing an integrated fire disaster prevention system is necessary in order to effectively prevent fire disasters and adequately protect life and property. My proposal is to develop iDetect, a mobile application that detects heat beyond the surface, its able to superimpose a heat map of an image (an area of the textile factory) from the user’s mobile phone/tablet camera, build a heat map on that certain area and make data analysis reports at specified time intervals. iDetect has a humidity sensor (or hygrometer) capability which senses, measures and reports both moisture and air temperature, preventing dust explosion in the process. It has an Android, Windows Mobile and iOS mobile supported capability. By creating iDetect where its software’s framework is capable of integrating with existing fire prevention, detection and protection devices like fire alarms, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, fire departments/fire stations alert and others it will be streaming methods under typical textile environment connectivity scenarios to map and 2D/3D render data in an engaging and intuitive way. iDetect helps make this intricate web of fire safety devices, platforms and technologies work together. I would love to develop iDetect and collaborate with app developers to make it not only more efficient than thermal cameras but also easily accessible and downloadable for free (Google Play, App Store) to every textile workers. Since providing each employee with a thermal camera is definitely expensive in contrast to free iDetect download with a smartphone, where I believe most textile workers have. With iDetect connected textile warehouses, networked objects and the internet come together 24/7 to make your textile business safer, easier to monitor and manage. By developing iDetect, increasing safety and reducing fire hazard cost with the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the textile industry is possible. How it works: Each employee completes a 2D/3D scan on their designated area of the textile factory, he keeps the device’s rear-facing camera pointing at the building’s façade or machinery. For example Azra is designated to scan the wall using iDetect app on her mobile phone, Elif is in charge of the ceiling, Maarku on electrical and Padraig will scan the machineries and so on. Task of scanning the textile facility is done before and after work schedules of each employee where duration can last for 10 minutes. In instances where everyone’s off from work (Sundays and holidays) supervisors can delegate someone to do the scanning for an incentive or overtime pay. Every employee is part of the whole process, it’s like a crowdsourcing initiative where everyone has a certain contribution to safeguard their workplace and reduce the high costs linked to fire damages in textile SMEs. iDetect has: 1. A real-time data and tracking (daily scan of areas are saved in the Cloud). 2. Employee tracking capability (to detect active participants of their specified duty and employee locations in case of fire scenario) 3. Push notifications to the supervisor’s mobile phone and email in case of emergency and heightened alerts 4. All scan events are recorded in the event log of iDetect app system for quick search in the archive. I’m envisioning of also incorporating iDetect as a system which becomes a centralized hub for textile insurance ecosystem (especially for Turkey SMEs), to deliver the right insurance information and services. Adding features like a technology that would be able to calculate (the existing textile areas, machineries, raw materials & produced goods) and come up with the perfect insurance premiums fit for the textile companies and employees as well. Data collected from iDetect’s connected textile user base will lead to development of algorithms able to identify risk independently, contribute to a better, cheaper and more tailored insurance that will benefit insurance provider like Allianz and customers (textile SMEs) alike. *Development cost of iDetect mobile application around $8k-$14k. *Download from Google Play and App Store of iDetect, free.
