My idea proposes for Firebean which is a bean bag fiiled with fire extinguishing powder packed around a small controlled explosive which can extinguish fire. In the event of fire the light weight bean bag can be tossed on to the fire, the fuse wire around the outer layer of bean bag catches fire and this spark will detonate the explosive charge packed in a styroform container which is filled and surrounded by fire extinguishing powder. The explosive device is safe enough to be detonated by holding from hand as there are no hard objects surrounding it, only fire extinguishing powder is present. The volume of fire extinguishing powder in a fire bean is very large compared to other products in the market that uses explosion of fire extinguishing powder to extinguish flames, so this can extinguish larger flames. This will give a purpose to a fire extinguisher as it can also be used like a bean bag for sitting, this red colored bags will create awareness among people about fire safety too as they use it daily for sitting unlike a fire extinguisher which is an unattractive product usually kept in a corner. The cost of a bean bag cover is around $10 in India, the fire bean casing cover can be made around a cost of $10 too because here we will be using materials that can be rip it apart with explosive charge. The total cost per unit will depend mainly on the cost of fire extibguishing powder used for filling it, based on my estimates it might be possible to produce a firebean for less than $80 per unit. Non exploding version It is often possible in textile industries that a small explosion might not be possible for this case we have the non exploding version of the Firebean, the principle of operation of this is entirely different from the exploding version, in this version the bean bag cover is made up of a stronger material and is not designed to rip apart. This will have 2 nozzles which will also serve the purpose of handle under normal circumstances. This type of fire extinguisher will have 2 types of chemicals A & B (Oxidiser & organic fuel) which is separated from each other, when a fuse is detonated these 2 mix each other and a chemical reaction takes place and a result a non toxic chemical mist or aerosol powder is released through the nozzle which will help in extinguishing the fire. The free radicals in the aerosol powder will hinter the chain reaction of fire and also absorb lot of heat extinguishing the fire.
