Earth quake bed concept -self closing work surface
A working surface or storage cabinet(s) for textiles that snap shut when a fire is detected, eliminating adding fuel to the fire
Description
Much like how many companies are developing technology for earth quakes known or referred to as an 'earth quake bed' an item / idea where by the sleeping person is " swallowed up" or instantly encased in the event of an Earth quake. This concept can be adjusted modified for textile industry. Design and build working tables or storage cohabitants to house textiles and when a fire is detected these fire proof metal cabinets snap shut / close or encase the materials/ fabrics and prevent them from being accessible to flames thus preventing the fire from having additional fuel. Work areas could have several tables or cabinets (depending on design) that can snap shut like a Venus fly trap when fire or heat is near/ detected. Of course they could have an alarm and warning light on them to avoid injury to nearby workers, They can be used both as preventive or responsive - when factories are not in use or employees have left textiles can be encased in metal boxes to avoid/ prevent fires. Several boxes ( or stations can be deployed) and operating procedures can be changed to ensure as much fabric and textiles as possible are isolated - this can be modular or large areas. (Modified shipping containers for example, with fire protection in each container the idea is to isolate textiles so they are not all openly exposed at the same time and able to catch fire when fire spreads. Similarly automatic fire doors can be used to block of or contain areas that are ablaze, to help contain fire. each area could have fire suppression equipment within each containment area.
